My latest passion is handpan. I’ve been playing handpan already for 12 years but I took it VERY seriously 8 years ago :). At that time I got my set of 3 double-siders (6 scales on 3 pans) which I’m touring with and since then I’ve been practicing almost every day.
I would never have imagined that I would dive deep into this instrument because I didn’t like it when I tried it for the first time around 2005. It was a Panart hang and I remember I thought: “Why did they castrate a steel pan and make it pentatonic??” :)))
Later on I was touring with Steve Shehan and David Kuckhermann and seeing them playing made me realize that handpan is in fact a completely unique phenomenon, the new group of instruments, which I call melodic finger percussion. Handpan solely represents this group because other melodic percussion is played by mallets (i.e. marimba, vibraphone)
This instrument is a new exciting journey and a field of endless creativity. I believe that so far we discovered only 3% of the handpan. I’m really looking forward to us, the community of players, discovering the other 97% of it. And with this album I want to inspire everyone to go on that discovery path!
This is my 14th release but my 1st album fully dedicated to the handpan.
This album sums up my long adventure with this instrument and my effort to create a new vocabulary for the handpan, adopting the techniques from other instruments to it, inventing new techniques, exploring various articulations and textures, experimenting with uncommon chord progressions etc.
One CD contains the music performed on the handpan only, and the 2nd CD is dedicated to the ensemble works where the handpan is presented in combination with other instruments.

Reviews:
“Nadishana’s latest album, “Relict”, is an extraordinary exploration
of the handpan’s capabilities, featuring masterful arrangements that
fuse world music, jazz, and percussive elements. From the perfect
opening of Wind Shadow, with its technical brilliance and captivating
mix, to the serene calm of Amber & Ice, every track is an invitation
to immerse oneself in a rich sonic journey. The bass and rhythmic
foundation throughout the album give each piece a strong, intentional
drive, deeply supporting the melodic and harmonic elements.
Cantus Ferreus and Rewired highlight his love for complex jazz
harmonies, while Sonoglyph stands out as an intricate narrative told
through unexpected, sophisticated chords. Relict and Promise display
Nadishana’s prowess with unique time signatures, setting rhythmic
foundations that transport the listener. The album’s richness lies in
the seamless blend of global influences, like the bansuri and kaval
flutes’ evocative presence in Force Fields and Eorix, which conjure a
sense of traveling through diverse musical landscapes. The exceptional
sound design, marked by beautiful reverb and stunning stereo effects,
transforms this album into a masterwork. The technical brilliance and
depth of composition sets a new standard for handpan music,
captivating both world music and jazz enthusiasts.”

refinement I hear and feel through each sound, each rhythmic and
melodic idea in a dense album that is both a technical and musical
evolution feast as well as a very emotional journey. In one word: a
gift to the world!”

“The new album of Nadishana is a real breakthrough in the world of
handpan music. In this work, the master once again demonstrated his
originality, the ability to create new musical dimensions, attention
to the smallest details, a combination of modern and traditional
music. The title of the album seems to demonstrate its essence –
ancient knowledge in a modern interpretation.”
