Nadishana
composer, multi-instrumentalist
Nadishana is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and designer of experimental musical instruments. He’s an innovator in the field of contemporary ethnic music and one of the musicians who are shaping and developing the culture of melodic finger percussion (handpan, tongue pans). The use of odd meters, polyphony, ‘split hand’ technique, progressive harmonies, complex articulation – are characteristic features of Nadishana’s original style. He elaborated the unique playing technique on each of his instruments and his own approach to advanced digital audio editing called “sound microsurgery”.

Amazing musicians featured on this album:
Peter Somos – percussion (5,7,8,9,10,11,12)
Anton Davidyants – bass (2,5,8,10,11,12), double bass (7,9)
Sylvain Barou – bansuri (4,11)

“Nadishana’s latest album, “Relict”, is an extraordinary exploration of the handpan’s capabilities, featuring masterful arrangements that fuse world music, jazz, and percussive elements. From the perfect opening of Wind Shadow, with its technical brilliance and captivating mix, to the serene calm of Amber & Ice, every track is an invitation to immerse oneself in a rich sonic journey. The bass and rhythmic foundation throughout the album give each piece a strong, intentional drive, deeply supporting the melodic and harmonic elements. Cantus Ferreus and Rewired highlight his love for complex jazz harmonies, while Sonoglyph stands out as an intricate narrative told through unexpected, sophisticated chords. Relict and Promise display Nadishana’s prowess with unique time signatures, setting rhythmic foundations that transport the listener. The album’s richness lies in the seamless blend of global influences, like the bansuri and kaval flutes’ evocative presence in Force Fields and Eorix, which conjure a sense of traveling through diverse musical landscapes. The exceptional sound design, marked by beautiful reverb and stunning stereo effects, transforms this album into a masterwork. The technical brilliance and depth of composition sets a new standard for handpan music, captivating both world music and jazz enthusiasts.”
